A couple of months ago I noticed that someone in my family (certainly not me!) had broken one of the tines off of the coupler on our KitchenAid blender. It seemed like no big deal since the blender still worked and to be honest we don’t use it all that much.
Yesterday I was making a watermelon & mint smoothie (didn’t work out as well as I had hoped) and I noticed that I broke a couple more of the tines off. Now I had a problem.
Having recently purchased a Breville Juicer I decided I’d look to see what a new Breville blender would cost. Too expensive! Then after doing some searching for a replacement KitchenAid blender I found this remarkable page which is the 50 cent part I need to replace to get my expensive blender working again. Less than $6 with shipping.
Here are the simple steps you need to perform to remove, and eventually replace, your KitchAid blender coupler:
- Use a thin bladed screwdriver to stop the motor from turning my turning the blender on it’s side and gently probing with the blade until it stops the flywheel in the motor casing from moving.
- To remove the coupler once the motor is frozen, turn it to the right, the opposite direction you would normally turn something to loosen it. It should easily spin off.
- Once you receive your replacement coupler, simply repeat these steps to put it on, but turn it to the left to tighten it. (remember, opposite from “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey”)
And that is it – you now have a working KitchenAid blender!
